The Drystone group of companies have a dedicated team of Surveyors trained to identify the causes of Rising damp in both domestic and commercial buildings across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and the rest of the South West and are able to provide the most suitable and cost effective solutions using one or a combination of the following systems;
Rising Damp is normally associated with older style properties, it occurs normally because a suitable damp proof course was omitted at the time of construction or subsequently failed and sometimes because of high external ground levels.
In cavity wall construction, Rising Damp can occur because of debris or mortar droppings falling down the cavity as the works progress.
Rising Damp causes damage to internal plaster finishes and decoration, these problems are worsened by migratory ground salts, which are transported by the unchecked moisture from the ground. These salts are Hygroscopic and attract moisture from the air adding to the problem of surface moisture.
